Ed stood at the front with his music stand ready to conduct the penultimate practice! And reminded us that Fair In The Square starts at 11.40 on Monday.

Ed will be setting up from 6pm tomorrow, and needs our good selves sat in the front seats from 7.20 and then he coached us in acting confused when requested to sing something for an encore. I will make sure my fiancé shouts 'More!' 

Let The River Run still had issues with Ar-ses and Ass-es (careful now) and needed a brighter sound for the bridge, which moved from an Mmmmm to an Ooooo...

Long And Winding road is going to work really well in church, despite not being Jack's favourite song. We are missing the overlap echo bit, bit Ed said it was too late to thrash that one and so Jack was happy especially because after tomorrow's concert we are putting the long and winding road to bed!

Heaven Is [still] A Place On Earth. Please bring your Ooomph tomorrow. 

So then we sing Sing which I keep faking as its in such a funny key and I mustn't wreck my voice for my solos and sexy duet with Ed after half time. Please be reminded that 'clearer' rhymes with 'hear-ya'. And we did it again. So I sang it like a man!

Now the audience have got used to us and its time to take them in a new direction, and we may hear them singing along as we sing So Happy Together! Which reminds me, I still don't have a sheep, which might have helped Ed not miss out a line ...

Bread maker, I mean Starmaker, has been eliminated from Monday but is still in the line for tomorrow night! More cheese please, a lot more GLEE! Oh yeah baby ....

1st Of May is sounding lovely if you like snakes. We didn't even run it all the way through. Because we needed to slip in some Dreaming! Always the danger of an extra YOU in that one. Ed was pleased, and he even let us miss out Goodbye To Love, and even The King And I.

The medieval version of Midnight Blue was ditched in favour of Mr HinTze delivering a lecture in rhyming couplets and t'was lovely indeed. Punchy please. See you tomorrow at 7.20 raring to go.

From the 'Most Outstanding Choir' Cup ...

My wasn't yesterday and awfully long day? I Decided to try a spot of sunbathing, but that was a silly idea and all i did was get my lovely silver-self wet on the grass. I'm Still staying with the blogger, Cat, and Kittens, as no one else has invited me round, but you never know. The year is yet young.

Meanwhile, back in the school hall, DFS get lively with a concert rehearsal ready for SP on Sunday - weather permitting, of course. I stayed at home on the mantel, but according to the humans, its going to be a corker, a great mix of songs there. So long as DFS remember not to sulk at any point, and how to liven up again after soothing-down.

Good news is that our Normandy tour should be full steam ahead now, yippeee - that should make for some hot blogging. Sadly, as a Weymouth Music festival cup, i may have moved on by then but i'll be sure to pop by and see what's cooking. Banana Mouskouri, any one?

The one with the acoustics which were pants ...

Dorset for singing gathered in the school common room, place of non swing-able plastic chairs, one en-suite toilet and a great deal of gain. Faithfully we battled the soggy acoustics, lively preschoolers, and noticeable hum, to complete a run through of Friday nights Portland gig! All notes were perfect, all timings were just right.

The second half of the concert is Ed's slot, along with us flash mobbing with out backing tracks from the pews. Its going to be awesome.

Well done to Ed and Dave for coping with the change of room, lost backing tracks and no car. Big kisses to jenny for being a DFS roadie again! See you at church at 7.29pm, rainbow colours and black bottoms all around. Love you, Cat xxxx

The one with the Dance routine!

I didn't come to choir last week, me and the fuzzy-kittens were off jet-setting, but I did go to Ed's house a few days later hoping to catch the latest choir gossip. I also wondered if Ed would get his Organ out and try to impress me, but instead he gave us a puppet show and a cup of tea so I didn't complain. My epic solo was also confirmed - there will not be a dry seat in the house!

But this week here we was (doing that on purpose to annoy the teacher part of Ed), all warmed up and ready to sing, and sing we did as we rattled through many of our songs, not all of them embolded here. It seems that 'life on Mars' is still with us even though nobody really likes it, but that all bodes well for a good opening night next week when it will sound awesome, for some odd reason! I am not sure of some of the notes, so I will be on you tube after bedtime most nights this week, ingraining my poor brain.

Well folks, it the big night next week, seems an age since we trod the boards at All Saints again, watching jenny handing out beer and crisps, and trying to peer round the Christmas tree until some one aligned all the words on the right hand side! Don't forget your polo shirt, and to warm up on the bus on the way over! It's going to be a riot!

Ed's Official Running Order - discovered in lap of choir member!

which is just the same as last weeks running order 1.1, only now I have typed it out all nice, and you can check that your folders are in the right order. I have had a guess at where the commercial break is, and I know how to say 'thank you' in Swedish... and yes, I have made a seagull on a stick, and it looks quite dapper!

Dont panic Dorset for Singing - it's a lovely venue and judging by last nights roof raising, we sound great, i really enjoyed the sound of my own voice bouncing back to me off Ed's belly and I couldn't sleep last night, so excited! Love you XXXX

week eight ...
The penultimate practice

Ed scared us by reminding us that this was our last practice before our ‘technical’, and then the concert the week after that. Although technically, we wont be getting in next week, as the hall is yet again in use. Never mind, we may not be able to tread the boards but we will be able to stay longer, running onto 8.45pm, and all squished together in the practice room. I wish we could put the words on the ceiling, so we can stand up and give it some welly…

Michael was back in charge of words and music this week, with some help from Dave, and chose the songs for us to rattle through. I won’t list them in dreary succession, but I will make a few points…

The biggest surprise was how lovely ‘chasing cars’ sounded, esp. after all the grumbling and booing last week! Well done choir, you really have been listening to me nagging you to go on you tube! The same could be said for ‘river of dreams’ where all those jumbly up lyrics seemed to fit on the right lines, at last!

We will need to watch Ed for the timings of ‘higher and higher’ so perhaps we had better practice it next week, along with ‘I wanna be the only one, the only one’ which we adore so much. We changed the backing in the second verse to more ‘yeah-yeah-yeah’, a very positive move indeed.

Keep singing choir, not long to go now. And remember, unlike this time last year when it was out first time, this time we really need to impress the punters. But don’t worry too much. I’ll still love you, whatever happens xxx
