The One That Drew a Large Crowd!
From deep within the collective souls of Weymouth's best-est community Choir, there came an awesome utterance of purest sounds, Great Big Cheesey American Grins, and a handful of sneaky snakes. But we wont mention the snakes!
I don't think I am just saying it because I am nice, but I do think our choir continues to get better and stronger, and sometimes even manages to erase the bum notes we have picked up! Ed Hintze and his lovely wife Jenny are extremely proud of their not-so-little choir, and who knows, with the new Kebab-related sponsorship, we may even get a tasty reward soon!
From the stage, the audience sits in almost darkness, but I could see at the back door, people continuing to be drawn in by the angelic and uplifting voices. For some of those in the front row, the singers were hidden by the banner, so perhaps we can get a few bricks and hang it off the front of the stage next year. Its lovely to have it though, and not just to hide my legs.
Well done Dorset for Singing. Have a lovely chocolatey filled Easter - see you in - May? That's far too long. I shall go nuts. Remember I Loves you, and keep singing. Cat XXX

In association with ... KEBABS? What?
Well its seems as if Ed number one vice has lead to a bit of sponsorship, i can hear the voice-over man now, at all our concerts - And now, in association with Ed's Favourite Greasy Takeaway - Dorset for Singing! (crowd goes wild - Ed stage dives - emergency services are called).
Back to out last practice until May, we ran through a sweet little set chosen by the lovely Mrs Ed Hintze and will full approval of all members, and Ed gave us a demonstration on how to use words on sheets of paper, not talking in between songs at all, and remembering everyone is watching us. It seems even as a four year old choir, we still have much to learn. Cheesy grins at each other maybe allowed while Ed makes obligatory jokes between songs about no auditions, etc. No wry smiles allowed.
See you at the Pavvy for 1.15 on Sunday, I will be the one lining up my children in seats, and giving them food to sit still. Always half worried that the foldy-up seats will consume one of the small people while I'm trying to hold a long note. Sing Well, Songsters! Remember I love you, Cat xxx

Dors or Singing?

We are looking good as usual, through the lens of our very own Dave-the-sound man, who gets time off from mixing when we sing at the Pavilion, and points his camera at us instead! And of course we sing at the Pavilion every year, because we are of course, The Best of Dorset! And we had our lovely banner in place too, to hide all the brown trousers and any comedy duck-feet.
Well done again 'Dors or Singing', it was lovely to see folk rushing in to catch our songs as we were on stage, instead of leaving to watch big guns being fired like they did last year. We did very well with fame, and I even remembered to more my hands, Bryan Husband would be so proud!
I brought two up-and-coming reviewers with me this time, who also minded handbags and ate the free stuff the Dorset Echo were giving out, and didn't booh once. Asked when they really thought of the performance, they stated Fields of Gold as the best song, and added, 'We would come again, if it was in town.'
See you in the music room for a knees-up next Thursday, lots of love, The Cat XXX

Dearest Choir,
Have you been over to the forum? Go on over and feel the love. Can you feel the love tonight? It Doesn't get much better than this ...
This term, a toughie by all accounts, was topped with our choir concert on Thursday of course, and beautifully iced today when we sang out socks off on stage at The Best of Dorset were I am so glad we were asked back to perform after our first time there last year. I just re-read the blog post for last year, and remembered how wobbly we all were. This time around, after waiting nervously on the wings, and a few aaaaarrrghs (for the sound check) we got stuck in, and only the first song was a bit shakey. After that we had wings. We flew.
So folks, hope you enjoyed the goosebumps, tears of emotion, and singing-along with us. Special huge thank-yous to all those that take the time to say how much they enjoyed our singing; friends, neighbours, husbands and children. Dorset for singing delights, entertains, relieves stress, and helps brains. If you want to perform, you can, and if you want to come and sing with us at the end of a hard day, you can do that too. You can have time off to do other things, and then come and be welcomed back, then told to sit down and go, "eeeeeeeh, AAAARGH"!
Just before I head off to dream of chocolate, I will share a link with you. I recently read a take a break article, which summed up community choirs such as ours perfectly, and I was moved to contact them. They didn't want to pay us any dosh for our story, but they did call me back and ask if they could add our choir to their Hums4mums Facebok group. There.
See you back in the hall for the 29th, ready for more hard work. HAPPY EASTER LOVE YOUUUUU! XXXX
